RBI has launched a retail pilot project called digital rupee which is an Indian digital currency. RBI launched the pilot of its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) for interbank transactions in October. The pilot project was launched on Dec 1st, 22. A digital rupee is a form of digital token that represents the Indian rupee. CBDC is a legal tender issued by RBI.
